Stella McCartney’s 2012 profits rose by 19 per cent to £3.4 million in the year ending December 31. Sales increased 22.8 per cent to £25.8 million, with ready-to-wear, accessories and childrenswear among the top-performing categories.
According to WWD, the label’s new South Kensington store, a Harrods shop-in-shop and a new fragrance launch also influenced the rise. Eveningwear also proved lucrative.
Last year was a big one for the designer, having designed the kits for the Team GB Olympic team, receiving an OBE and two British Fashion Awards, for Designer Brand and Designer of the Year.
Kate Middleton’s already wowed us once this week, stepping out in a stunning Jenny Packham gown at the Tusk Trust awards ceremony, but trust us, you’ll want to hear this.
While the Duchess’ glistening gown came from her favourite Brit designer’s mainline, and clocks in at a whopping £2,500, you can nail the look for a fraction of the price thanks to Jenny Packham’s way more purse-friendly Debenhams diffusion line.
The spot-on-offering perfectly echoes the column shape and gathered front of Kate’s sequined showstopper, and its £185 price tag is definitely more civilian friendly!
Perfect for party season, winter weddings and definitely a dress investment you’ll have for years to come, after Kate stepping out in its doppelganger last night, we guarantee this baby won’t be sticking around on the shop floor for long.
Kate Moss reunites with 90s supermodels Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington and more for the September 2013 issue of Interview magazine.
The iconic supermodel is one of seven cover girls, shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, for the September issue of Interview magazine, along with top 90s greats like Stephanie Seymour, Linda Evangelista, Amber Valletta, Christy Turlington and her pal Naomi Campbell for the issue, devoted to the business of modeling. Face of the Noughties, Daria Werbowy, is the final cover star.
The striking covers, styled by Karl Templar and Ludivine Poiblanc, show Kate and the other supers looking fierce and fabulous, half-clad in leather, exotic skin and soaking wet ensembles. Kate wears a one-sleeved leather dress by Versace and a spiked statement cuff on her wrist.
In the accompanying interview, Kate opens up about fashion, living in New York and even the Queen.
‘I lived in New York for seven years, although I was always in denial about it. Even though I had an apartment there, I always pretended I was just visiting. I do love New York. But I’m a Londoner at heart,’ she tells.
She also reveals how her fellow cover stars Linda, Naomi and Christy helped her get her footing when she was a newbie model in the Big Apple.
‘They showed me the ropes, really. If I hadn’t been with them, I would have been screwed. They really protected me.’
Swatch, the iconic watch brand we couldn’t get enough of as kids, has gone seriously high fashion with their new collection. Launched today, they’re ticking off autumn trends including Christopher Kane-inspired camouflage and Lanvin-esque mega pearls.
The Urban Expression collection stays true to Swatch’s street style roots, with popping neons and killer prints on offer. This £46.50 camo number couldn’t be more on the money for nailing the big print hitter of the season, which as well as at Kane, popped up on the runways of Fendi, Michael Kors and Guy Laroche.
The Les Annes Folles line brings the glamour, with art deco detailing and tortoiseshell finishes featuring on delicate styles, making for a timeless 1920’s vibe. The £44.50 triple strapped pearl showstopper is our pick for paying tribute to Lanvin’s piled up pearl necklaces. Flip the face underneath and you can rock it as a bracelet too, giving you serious bang for your buck.

Don’t know who Suki Waterhouse is yet? Don’t worry, you will.
Besides filming Love, Rosie with Lily Collins and reportedly dating Bradley Cooper, the 20-year-old London resident is also Sass & Bide’s new model and muse. She styled herself for the boho-luxe clothing line’s fall 2013 ad campaign.
“The shoot was really inspiring,” says Waterhouse. “We were having loads of fun, playing music outside all day and dancing.” Adds the label’s creative director, Heidi Middleton, “Suki embodies the spirit of the brand. She has a curious mind and looks at the world in an original way. We felt an instant connection to her.”
Sass & Bide also appreciated Waterhouse’s dreamy artistic talents, and gave her full permission to draw and paint all over their photos. You can see her handiwork at sassandbide.com.
Harrods has teamed up with Victoria Beckham, Anya Hindmarch, Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney and a whole host of the fashion industry’s biggest designers to celebrate ‘The Handbag Narratives’ – a two-month-long campaign recognising our favourite arm accessory.
The store has partnered with 20 of its leading brands to create some amazing window displays, all featuring a giant handbag of their choice – oversized Mulberry, anyone? What’s more, as if Harrods wasn’t already spoiling us enough, the store has also managed to get those 20 fashion houses to each design an exclusive handbag especially for the campaign. They can be purchased at the Brompton Road store in a brand new and exclusive pop-up boutique throughout July.
Victoria Beckham has designed a mini tote in an aqua powder python with a grey calf leather handle and gold hardware. It’s stunning. She says: ‘I wanted something chic and sophisticated but eye catching at the same time. The window display is innovative and in keeping with my brand aesthetic.’
Victoria’s also offered us some of her top tips for choosing a handbag, revealing: ‘Always look for something timeless that has the potential to carry you through from day to night. I like discreet branding and believe in always choosing the very best quality.’
Of her very first handbag love, Victoria said: ‘My first love was my Gucci plastic carrier bag that I used to carry my school books in. I used it every day, right up until the bottom fell out.’
She adds: ‘I’ve got four children so I quite regularly come across strange bits and bobs lurking at the bottom of my bags.’
Brands taking part in The Handbag Narratives campaign include Alexander McQueen, Anya Hindmarch, Burberry, Chloe, Coach, DKNY, Fendi, Ferragamo, Gucci, Loewe, Mulberry, MCM, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu, Prada, Rebecca Minkoff, See by Chloe, Sophie Hulme and Stella McCartney.
A pop-up photo booth is available for customers to have their photo taken on the cover of the latest issue of the Harrods Magazine with their favourite exclusive handbag style and Coach are hosting a New York-themed cocktail event within their boutique tomorrow, Thursday 18 July from 6pm – 8pm. The event celebrates the brand’s American heritage and presents the latest collections with beauty treatments available from Kiehls.
